Well, Cyber Monday is here. I can honestly say that those words have never been written on this blog. I am not much of a shopper when it comes to browsing through stores. I swear it’s like I have blinders on. The greatest thing in the world could be right in front of my face and I won’t see it. Unless I’m in a kitchen store and that’s just a whole different ball game! I could tell you the oodles and oodles of items on my kitchen wish list, but honestly, it’s endless.
Since I’m not much of a shopper it may come as a shock to you that this week I want to share some shopping ideas for the holidays. I’ve discovered that there is a niche for shoppers like me. From the couch shoppers. I’m not talking about watching it on TV, I’m talking about using the my online prowess and the recommendations of those who have similar tastes to find things I would like to give, get and drool over.
Since I spend a large portion of my so-called free time browsing pretty things online, and said so-called free time is usually when I am waiting in carpool lanes and doctors offices and at swimming lessons, I generally feel just fine about it. I wouldn’t have the patience to shop the stores anyway, and this way I can do infinite amounts of ‘window’ shopping and wishlist making with minimum effort.
As much as I love many of the bookmarking tools that are out there, I was excited to find out about a new one from the folks over at Sweet Relish (sweetrelish.com). They call themselves THE SECRET SAUCE OF SHOPPING. Why you may ask? Well, according to the company, the definition of what they are doing over there is pretty straight forward.
“Sweet Relish is basically a tool for organizing discoveries, sharing what you want, and seeing what others like. And best of all, you can actually BUY this stuff. We call it the “secret sauce” because it’s the missing piece from online shopping. It’s super easy to check off a birthday list, send a list of classroom needs out to parents, or sneakily surprise a friend with a gift that she really wants- all based on our lists.”
The site is still fairly new and growing and developing, which can be a fun time to get in on the beginning of a tool like this. I decided to take the site for a ‘test drive’ and see how it works. You can add a quick little bookmark to your toolbar so that when you see something you would like to buy, you can easily bookmark it and add it to a list. And instead of it possibly just being something you think is pretty, it can turn into a shopping list from numerous sources and other sites.
Anyway, since one of my absolute favorite types of things to shop for online these days are vintage kitchen items, I’m even going to share a few favorites! Here is my Kitchen Wishlist, via Sweet Relish, just for you. I love the fact that I could easily save links, with prices included, from several different websites and categorize my list myself. Anything that takes the strain of remembering where I saw what and how much it was and if it was on sale… yada yada yada… off of my brain is well worth it!
Should you decide that you could use some extra shopping money this holiday season, you should definitely enter the giveaway contest that Sweet Relish is offering right now. After all, who couldn’t use a $200 Visa Gift Card during the holidays?! Yeah, I thought so.
Entering is easy, you just register over at Sweet Relish via the Rafflecopter giveaway. I just used my Facebook account – easy peasy – and then got swept away with creating my first wish list.
Be sure to check back this week and during December for more deals, ideas and giveaways here on Ye Olde Blogg. (Sorry. It’s really late and Christmastime always makes me think like Dickens or that I should attempt to speak in old English. I should probably include a disclaimer about that. Anyway, here’s the real disclaimer. This is a sponsored post and Sweet Relish is providing me with compensation to share information with you about their new site and to let you know about the giveaway they are running. My opinions about their site and my thoughts and observations regarding same are 100% my own. Now go forth and shop, making many merry gift and wish lists! But don’t forget to enter the contest!)
