So, it has once again been a busy month and I’ve been pretty slow (aka nonexistent at getting something posted!). Of course, I’ve still been busy making and doing things, but I just still never seem to find time to slow down and write. I didn’t want to miss this chance though to share some of my favorite ideas for the holiday this week.

Above is my favorite picture of the Fresh Cherry Limeade I made for that vintage picnic we did back in May for the Fresh Ambrosia Salad I made for KSL Studio 5. The cherry limeade was pretty easy to make and we all loved it – I especially loved that crazy, gorgeous vivid red color – even prettier with a blue and white swirly paper straw!

I actually ended up doing another segment for Studio 5 last week and shared a few more red, white and blue recipes – including the old fashioned candied popcorn – and featuring an update of my swirly, tie dyed sugar cookies from a few years ago. You can watch the video here to see the technique in action and get the recipes.

In addition to the swirly cookies, I shared another recipe using the same sugar cookies with a little twist – an almond flavored sugar cookie with a fluffy almond cream cheese frosting topped with some blueberries and raspberries.

Happy Independence Day to my fellow American friends! We are sending warm thoughts and lots of love to our military who are still working hard to make sure we enjoy our freedom and way of life and an especially big hug to my brother, Jason, who is in the Army and over in Afghanistan this year. We love you Bubba!
